Inner Silence: Creating Intensity
New Series Begins in August 27,2026
For the shamans of ancient Mexico, time was an experiential affair, something intimately related to attention. When we focus our unwavering attention on anything, we are compressing time and creating a feeling of intensity. Paradoxically, this intensity is one description of inner silence. It is a state in which our inner dialog disappears because there is no room for it. We are present. We are in the zone. All distractions are excluded. It could happen at any time, in any activity, in physical movement, in breathing. The thing is to practice holding attention in one place, a place not dictated by the social order, and accumulate confidence in our ability to do so. In this state our normal sense of time is suspended, time is compressed, and we get a taste of eternity. We all have had these moments. We can make them a part of daily life by practicing and by joining together.
